Unlocking the Secrets: Unveiling the Motivations Behind English Language Learning
Are you ready to dive deep into the world of English language learning? We conducted a survey at Naugsol Integrated School to explore the factors and motivations that drive senior high school students to master the English language.
From understanding the importance of proficiency in English to identifying the challenges faced by students, our questionnaire covered a wide range of aspects related to language acquisition. Gender, usage of English outside school, confidence levels, and the role of teachers in supporting students were just a few of the topics explored.
The survey revealed intriguing insights - some students are motivated by future career opportunities, while others are driven by parental expectations or peer influence. With varying levels of confidence in their language skills, students identified grammar difficulties, vocabulary retention, and speaking confidence as common challenges in their English learning journey.
Despite the obstacles, students enjoy different aspects of English language learning, such as reading, writing, speaking, listening, and grammar. Practicing English through reading books, watching movies, listening to music, or engaging in conversations were common activities outside the classroom.
Looking towards the future, students provided suggestions on how the school can better support their English language learning, such as more interactive activities, extra tutoring sessions, language immersion programs, and encouraging English-speaking clubs.
Overall, the survey shed light on the diverse motivations and challenges faced by students in their quest to master English. Understanding these factors is crucial in developing effective strategies to enhance language acquisition and create a supportive learning environment for students at Naugsol Integrated School.
